Oakdale is a city in the US state of Minnesota . It is located in Washington County and has a population of around 26,700.
geography
Oakdale is part of the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metropolitan area in the Midwestern United States. The city is about twelve kilometers northeast of St. Paul and 15 miles east of Minneapolis . According to the United States Census Bureau , the area of the city is 29.2 square kilometers, of which 0.5 square kilometers is water.
history
The Oakdale area was settled in 1848. Organized as a township in 1858, it was 36 square miles in size. In the 20th century, areas were repeatedly separated from Oakdale Township and formed independent localities ( Lake Elmo 1926, East Oakdale 1951, Landfall 1959, Northdale 1959). 1969 formed the Northdale Township, part of East Oakdale together with Oakdale a village . In 1974 Oakdale received city rights.

According to the 2000 census , Oakdale has 26,653 people in 10,243 households and 7,129 families.
