The Íshokkísamband Íslands (ÍHÍ for short; Ice Hockey Federation of Iceland) is the national ice hockey federation of Iceland based in Reykjavík (next to the Laugardalshöllin sports hall and opposite the Laugardalsvöllur national stadium ). The federation is one of the sports federations of the Icelandic sports federation Íþrótta- og Ólympíusamband Íslands , (ÍSÍ) and a full member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), into which it was admitted on May 6, 1992. It is the umbrella organization for over 600 players who are active in the following five clubs: Íshokkífélagið Björninn , Skautafélag Akureyrar , Skautafélag Reykjavíkur , Jakarnir Vestmannaeyjum and Narfi frá Hrísey . The current president is Viðar Garðarsson.

Three ice rinks were built in Iceland in 1997, 2000 and 2003 , two in the capital and one in Akureyri .

tasks

The association mainly takes care of the implementation of the games of the Icelandic ice hockey team as well as the women's national team and the junior teams. In addition, the association organizes games at club level, including the Icelandic ice hockey league , whose champions have been determined for men since 1992 and for women since 2000.
