Anna Katarina Timglas (born November 24, 1985 in Malmö ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player and current ice hockey referee who played for AIK Solna in the top Swedish league, the Riksserien . At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , she won the silver medal in the Olympic ice hockey tournament with the Swedish women's national team .

Career

Katarina Timglas began her ice hockey career at the age of five - like her two brothers - at Limhamn HK , for which she was active in the then top division for women until 2005. She then moved to AIK in Stockholm , with whom she won the Swedish championship in 2007 and 2009 . She also won the IIHF European Women Champions Cup four times in a row with the AIK between 2004 and 2008 .

International

Starting in 2004, Timglas took part in numerous world championships and international tournaments for her home country. At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , she won the silver medal in the Olympic ice hockey tournament with the Swedish women's national team . She celebrated further success by winning the bronze medal at the 2005 and 2007 World Championships . At her second Winter Olympics in February 2010 , she finished fourth with the national team.

In total, she made 114 caps for Sweden, in which she scored 29 goals, and three caps for the country's U22 women.

As a referee

Due to an injury, Timglas ended her career in 2010 and became an IIHF referee in 2012. She headed from 2014 international matches, including at the Women's World Championship Division II Group B . In 2015 she directed her first games at the top division World Cup .

At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , she was the main referee of the women's final together with Nicole Hertrich .
