Mari Susanna Saarinen (born July 30, 1981 in Kangasala ) is a former Finnish ice hockey player and current coach , who spent her entire career with Ilves Tampere and won the Finnish championship twice with the team .

Career

At Ilves Tampere

In the Naisten SM-sarja , Saarinen played for Ilves Tampere from 1998 . With this team she won the Finnish championship in 2006 and 2010 and was runner-up several times. In addition, she won the IIHF European Women Champions Cup with Ilves in 2011 and was captain of the women's team between 2007 and 2011 .

In 2012 she ended her playing career and in 2014 she became assistant coach of the Ilves women's team. In the play-offs of the 2014/15 season , she returned to the ice.

Saarinen has been the head coach of the women's team since 2016.

International

Saarinen played for many years in the Finnish women's ice hockey team , with whom she took part in the 2006 and 2010 Winter Olympics and the 2004 , 2005 , 2007 , 2008 and 2009 World Championships . In 2010 she won the Olympic bronze medal and three other bronze medals at world championships.
