Joa Anna Elisabeth Elfsberg (born July 30, 1979 in Valbo ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player who played for Brynäs IF in the Riksserien for many years . With the Swedish women's national team , she won a total of four medals at the Olympic Winter Games, World and European Championships.

Career

Joa Elfsberg grew up in Lund (Valbo) and began her career at Valbo AIF . Around 1995 she moved to Brynäs IF , where she played for the first time in the then highest women's division, Division 1.

At the European Championships in 1996 she won the gold medal with the national team - alongside Erika Holst and Åsa Elfving . With 5 goals she was the top scorer of the Swedish national team.

After this success, Elfsberg moved within Division 1 to Nacka HK . In the late 1990s she moved to the United States for about a year and played ice hockey for Assabet Vally High School. In 1999 she returned to Sweden and then returned to Brynäs IF.

At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City , she won with the Swedish national team the bronze medal four years later at the Winter Olympics in Turin , the silver medal. In the latter, she did not appear as a striker, but as a defender.

When she last participated in the World Cup in 2007 , she won the bronze medal. In total, Elfsberg completed 155 international matches for Sweden, in which she scored 20 goals. In 2011 she ended her career.
