history
The association was founded on November 17, 1922 at a meeting on the premises of the Swedish Football Association in Stockholm. Sweden had already been a member of the IIHF for two years , with ice hockey being integrated into the football association until 1922, which then transferred membership to the new ice hockey association.
To date, nine men's A World Championships have been organized by the Swedish Ice Hockey Federation (mostly in Stockholm or Gothenburg ): the Ice Hockey World Championships in 1949 , 1954 , 1963 , 1969 , 1970 , 1981 , 1989 , 1995 and 2002 . In addition, the organization of the 2005 Women's World Cup was part of the association. In addition, a number of Junior World Championships were held.
The men's ice hockey world championships in 2012 and 2013 were organized jointly with the Finnish Ice Hockey Federation.
