Dave Greszczyszyn (born September 18, 1979 ) is a Canadian skeleton athlete .

Career

Dave Greszczyszyn is from Brampton , lives in Calgary and started skeleton in 2007. He contested his first international race in the America's Cup 2008/09 in Park City . The Canadian finished the first race in 19th place. In 2009 he reached his first top ten finishes in Calgary with ranks nine and eight. Another year later , Greszczyszyn was able to achieve third places and thus first podium results, first in Calgary behind Yuzuru Hanyūda and Greg Maidment and two races later in Lake Placid behind the same drivers.

In the 2011/12 season , Greszczyszyn started in the European Cup and already finished third in the first race in Königssee . He was among the top five in all eight races of the season, celebrated his first victories in Altenberg and Winterberg and in the end came second in the overall standings behind David Lingmann . He then took part in the Intercontinental Cup in the 2012/13 season and started the winter again with a third place. In the other races he finished between positions four and six before he finished second in the last race of the season in Winterberg again on the podium. He took third place in the final ranking behind Alexander Gassner and Axel Jungk . At the Canadian Championships he won the silver medal behind Eric Neilson in 2012/13 .

In autumn 2013 Dave Greszczyszyn became Canadian champion for the first time and was able to qualify for the World Cup squad. After a sixth place in the first race of the season on his home track in Calgary, he could not build on this good placement in the three following races with rank 20, 26 and again 20, so that he was then used in the European Cup . There he achieved fifth and sixth place as well as a victory in St. Moritz and started again in the last World Cup race of the season, where he finished eleventh. For the 2014 Olympic Games , he could no longer qualify. In 2014 he defended his title at the Canadian Championships for 2015 and started the season in the European Cup , where he was victorious in his first two season starts in Königssee. In the subsequent World Cup he achieved a seventh place as the best result at the season finale in Sochi and was ninth overall. At the 2015 Skeleton World Championships in Winterberg, he finished fourth with the Canadian team and eleventh in the individual.
