The e-Wolf GmbH is a former German producer of electric cars and currently acting under another name as a developer and manufacturer of stationary storage batteries for photovoltaic systems . The company formerly run under the name "e-Wolf GmbH" was taken over by Solarwatt GmbH in April 2016 and now operates under the name Solarwatt Innovation GmbH . The company was based in Frechen near Cologne until the end of 2019 . The company has been based in Hürth-Kalscheuren near Cologne since December.

The cooperation between e-Wolf and SOLARWATT began in 2014; At that time, e-Wolf supplied SOLARWATT with battery modules for the SOLARWATT "MyReserve" power storage system. The acquisition of e-Wolf by the Dresden photovoltaic company SOLARWATT goes hand in hand with the establishment of a technology center called "SOLARWATT INNOVATION" based in Frechen near Cologne (the previous headquarters of e-Wolf). The production of the battery storage will continue under the name "SOLARWATT MyReserve". Until now, the assembly of cars and a permanent sales exhibition by e-Wolf were located in Frechen. The construction of electric cars will probably not continue. However, the e-Wolf workforce will be taken over by the new parent company. In the past, the company e-Wolf processed lithium-ion battery cells from the German manufacturer Li-Tec Battery , but their production was discontinued in 2015. The Dresden parent company has announced that it will be delivering around 3,000 to 4,500 battery storage systems in 2016, which have been ordered from SOLARWATT via installers.

First results of business activity

The company caused a sensation when it presented the sports car prototype e-Wolf E 1 at the IAA 2009 , which it had tested by DTM driver Johannes Seidlitz . The white, open racing car was developed and presented together with the Institute for Lightweight Construction and Plastics Technology at the TU Dresden , the Leichtbau-Zentrum Sachsen GmbH, and Li-Tec Battery GmbH. The vehicle combines an ultra-lightweight chassis made of a carbon-aluminum construction with flat-cell technology, carbon rims, formula racing technology and road approval. The E 1 accelerates from zero to 100 km / h in under five seconds.
