description

In 1955, Harald Friedrich, owner of ALZMETALL - machine tool factory and foundry , acquired a license to build an automobile from the designer Egon Brütsch and had the car improved by the then 77-year-old Hans Ledwinka , formerly Tatra . 1956 founded Friedrich along with the Victoria bicycle works the Bavarian Auto Werke GmbH , to counteract the crisis in the two-wheeler industry. The company launched the “ Spatz 200 ” small car . The Victoria dealer network took over the distribution. Initially the Sparrow had a 191 cc four-speed engine from Fichtel & Sachs , then a fan-cooled 250 cc VICTORIA two-stroke engine with a Peggy and Swing-like electromagnetic five-speed gearshift. This stronger version was called " Victoria 250 " and was finished in Nuremberg . 1588 "Spatz 200" and "Victoria 250" were produced. The sales success of the "Spatz" and the "Victoria 250" was too low overall, so that production was stopped in February 1958.
