Bieber Cabriolet GmbH , previously Buggy-Center Bieber KG , was a German manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company buggy Center Bieber KG was headquartered first at the Veilchenstraße 27 in Wuppertal . Automobile production began around 1970. The brand name was Bieber . From 1990 the company was Bieber Cabriolet GmbH and the location was Bahnhofstrasse 20 in Borken . The field of activity was now the conversion of closed vehicles into convertibles . From mid-1991 the company was located at Landwehr 62 in Borken. In 1995, sedans were converted into station wagons . The last entry in the car catalogs was in the 1999 model year .

Initially, buggies were on offer . The first model was the dingo . Maplex , Optimist and Speedster followed later . There was also the Condor , an open vehicle in the style of the 1930s . The basis of the vehicles was the chassis of the VW Beetle , which was shortened for some models. An air-cooled four - cylinder boxer engine provided the drive .

The vehicle models that were converted into convertibles included the VW Beetle, Golf , Scirocco and Polo , Opel Kadett D and Calibra , Ford Fiesta and Porsche 924 and 944 . The combination kits called Vario-Top were offered in the model years 1996 and 1997 and fit the Seat Toledo and Volvo 440 . The new price was between 4,000 and 4,500 DM.
