The German Artega GmbH is a car manufacturer originally founded in 2006 from Delbrück in North Rhine-Westphalia . In 2012 the company had to file for bankruptcy. Vehicle production resumed in 2015.

Company history

The company was founded at the end of 2006 as an offshoot of paragon AG , also from Delbrück . Founder Klaus Dieter Frers received advisory support from Karl-Heinz Kalbfell . From September 2008 on, Frers was also Managing Director of Artega, before he sold his 52% stake in the company to the German subsidiary of the Mexican private investor Tresalia Capital , one of the shareholders of the Grupo Modelo brewery, at the end of 2009 . With the takeover by Tresalia, the management switched to Wolfgang Ziebart .

In March 2007 the foundation stone was laid for the production plant with integrated distribution center, the opening ceremony followed at the end of November 2008. The first customer vehicles have been delivered since 2009.

In October 2010, Wolfgang Ziebart switched to the corporate advisory board of Artega Automobil GmbH & Co. KG. Peter Müller, who had previously headed the operational business, took over the position of new managing director.

The Artega logo with a thorn bush bearing ten fruits and a rising bracken refers to the coat of arms of the Delbrück company location.

Artega filed for insolvency at the Paderborn District Court on Friday, June 29, 2012. The sale to an Asian investor did not succeed. The company employed 34 people.

In October 2012, the newly founded Artega GmbH took over the assets of the insolvent Artega and thus also the other service work on the vehicles.

Artega was represented at the IAA 2015 with its own booth. At the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, the Artega Scalo Superelletra electric super sports car was presented together with Touring Superleggera, Milan.

The Artega brand is again independent under the management of Klaus Dieter Frers. He is currently pursuing the further development of the Artega Scalo Superelletra. Engineering services are also offered.

In autumn 2018, the Italian electric car manufacturer Tazzari was taken over.

Models

Artega's first independently developed vehicle was the Artega GT sports car . After completion of the first ready-to-drive test vehicles in mid-2008, the official start of series production took place in May 2009, when the first examples were delivered under the direction of the management, who has been in office since December 2008. A total of 153 vehicles were manufactured.

Based on the Artega GT, the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is developing an electric vehicle prototype (called "Frecc0") under the project management of Fraunhofer IFAM Bremen . At the International Motor Show (IAA) in 2011, the first electrically powered sports cars were shown and tested under the model name Artega SE .

At the IAA 2015 Artega presented a further development of the GT under the name Scalo . In contrast to the original GT, this one is electrically powered. In addition, the electrically powered two-seater Quad Karo was presented.

From 2019 Artega planned to produce the electric micro-car Microlino similar to the BMW Isetta on behalf of Micro Mobility Systems AG . In the meantime, she plans to produce a modified model ("Karo") on her own from 2020. Two preliminary injunctions have been issued against Artega on the matter.
