The Petri + training GmbH was a German company in the field of adapted automobile and manufacturer of motor vehicles .

history

Wilhelm Petri and Adam Wilhelm Lehr founded the company in Offenbach in 1902 . The production of mobility aids such as disabled bikes began. The production of motor vehicles was added later. The brand name was Petri & Lehr . On January 1, 1950, the company was converted into a general partnership . According to a source, Auto Union handed over its disabled vehicle construction to Petri + Lehr in 1950 . In 1964 Meyra-Ortopedia took over the company, which was then continued as a sole proprietorship. On February 22, 1973 the legal form was changed to a GmbH & Co. KG . The company was a member of the Association of Vehicle Conversions for People with Disabilities, or VFMP for short. In 2010 over 180 vehicles were converted. From December 1, 2013, the company belonged to Kehrel AG as Petri + Lehr GmbH, based in Großräschen .

On March 11, 2019, employees stopped work after wages had not been paid since January 2019. The company has been dormant since then. The bankruptcy was announced on July 29, 2019. Legal relationship: The company is dissolved due to the opening of insolvency proceedings in accordance with Section 60 (1) No. 4 GmbHG.

Products

The company manufactured conversion systems, boarding aids and additional devices for disabled drivers. In the past, complete motor vehicles were also made for the physically handicapped. There was a choice of gasoline engines with 98 cm³, 174 cm³ and 197 cm³ displacement as well as electric motors . In a still existing model 207 from 1955, a single-cylinder engine from the ILO engine works with 197 cm³ displacement and 9.5 hp provided the drive. This vehicle offered space for two people side by side. The new price was 1,800 DM .

Two vehicles can be viewed in the Bert Grimmer vehicle collection in Eppelheim . A tricycle is in the Museum of the Inventors' Times in Schramberg . Another vehicle is exhibited in the Franconian small car collection Bittner in Stopfenheim .

The Petri + Lehr multi-function rotary knob TOUCH was available in the Mercedes-Benz factory program. It was a radio-based remote control for low beam, high beam, indicators, horn and windshield wipers.
