The Hansa Automobil mbH was a German automotive company.
history
The company was founded in 1905 by August Sporkhorst (1870–1940) together with the economist and industrial manager Robert Allmers (1872–1951), who also became its director. In the same year Voiturettes with a single-cylinder engine from De Dion-Bouton with a displacement of 720 cm³ were created . In 1909 the construction of the Hansa factory in Varel (today Neumühlenstrasse / Hansastrasse) began. In 1914, Hansa merged with Norddeutsche Automobil- und Motoren AG (NAMAG) in Bremen-Hastedt to form Hansa-Lloyd -Werke AG Bremen , with Allmers again becoming director. The Hansa-Lloyd plant in Varel had to close in 1930. The majority of shares in Hansa-Lloyd were bought from 1929 to 1931 by Carl F. W. Borgward , together with Wilhelm Tecklenborg owner of the Hastedter Goliath-Werke Borgward & Co. GmbH in the immediate vicinity of the Hansa-Lloyd plant (formerly NAMAG). In 1931 Allmers left the company and the name Hansa-Lloyd was deleted from the company register. In addition to production facilities, Borgward also used type designations from the former competitor. "Hansa" was used as a brand by Hansa-Lloyd and Borgward until 1939.
After the Second World War, the Borgward Group used the name Hansa for various passenger cars as part of the model name, such as B. the Borgward Hansa 1500 . Probably the most famous Borgward model, the " Isabella ", initially rolled off the production line under the name "Hansa 1500". The Goliath GP 1100 was offered from July 1958 as the "Hansa 1100".
