The Maschinenfabrik A. flakes was from 1880 to 1931 existing Coburg companies in the automotive, motor trade and electrical engineering. It was founded by Andreas Flocken .

The Flocken electric car , manufactured in 1888, is considered "the first (four-wheel) electric car in the world" and the first electric car that was made in Germany. A second source confirms 1888 as the first year of motor vehicle production.

history

In 1880 Andreas Flocken bought a building plot at Callenberger Strasse 15. In the same year he founded his agricultural machine factory and built a factory building. The machine factory began building agricultural machines such as chopping machines and the like in 1881 .

Department B for electrical engineering was founded in 1888. Dynamos, electric motors and electrical centers were manufactured there. At this time, Flocken started developing electric cars and built the Flocken electric cars . By 1903, at least two other models followed with improved drive systems and equipment. Another source documents a vehicle from around 1903.

In 1906 the company was expanded to include a foundry. In 1908, Flocken's son Robert took over management of the company. In 1919 the company was sold to Alfred Axthelm. It existed until at least the early 1930s. The factory building on Callenberger Strasse was destroyed by artillery fire in the last days of the Second World War. After that it was only sparsely rebuilt.
