Andreas flakes
Andreas Flocken (born February 6, 1845 in Albersweiler , Rheinpfalz , † April 29, 1913 in Coburg ) was a German entrepreneur and inventor. The Flocken electric car manufactured in 1888 is considered the first four-wheeled electric car in the world. Flocken is also known as the inventor of the tie rod .
Career
Andreas Flocken was born as the son of the cooper and vineyard owner Jakob Flocken in Albersweiler / Rheinpfalz. After leaving school, he trained as a locksmith and mechanic. He worked for the Heinrich Lanz AG agricultural machinery factory in Mannheim until around 1868 . Until 1879 he was a works manager at the Schoppers company in Zeulenroda . In 1879 he moved with his family to Coburg at Kreuzwehrstrasse 8.
In 1880 Flocken bought a building plot at Callenberger Straße 15. In the same year he founded his agricultural machine factory and built a factory building. The A. Flocken machine factory began building agricultural machines ( chopping machines and the like) in 1881 . In 1883 Flocken moved to Callenberger Straße 2. Department B for electrical engineering was founded in 1888. It was there that Flocken began developing electric cars, for which he also supplied the regenerative energy : in 1890 he acted as a co-tenant of the municipal grinding mill. This was near his factory. Flocken operated a water-powered dynamo there.
Andreas Flocken died on April 29, 1913 in Coburg .
