The Regent-Fahrrad-Werke were a German manufacturer of bicycles and automobiles .

Company history

The machine factory W. Stutznäcker from Dortmund was founded in 1872.

Bicycles have been manufactured there since 1886. In 1889 the company was represented at the Leipzig bicycle exhibition. In 1890 it was referred to as the "manufacturer of the famous Vehmlinde bicycles", later the brand name Regent was used. From 1901 the automobile production was started. In 1906 the last known mention was made as the Dortmund sewing machine, bicycle and motor car factory Wilhelm Stutznäcker.

The Regent-Fahrrad-Werke were founded in 1902 as a subsidiary of the W. Stutznäcker machine factory . The initial goal was the production of bicycles. In the same year or 1903 automobiles followed. Production ended in 1904. The number of cars produced remained small.

Automobiles

The vehicle had a petrol engine that was directly connected to the rear axle via a spur gear. The vehicle did not have chains or belts. A single-cylinder engine with 6 hp or a two-cylinder engine with 14 hp were available for the drive .
