Petrol engine

A gasoline engine is understood to mean an internal combustion engine that is operated with motor gasoline ; Colloquially, it means the gasoline engine . With gasoline u. a. also operated the Wankel engine and aircraft engines ; Multi-fuel engines such as the hot-head engine and some diesel engines can be operated with diesel fuel as well as with gasoline: Rudolf Diesel's first functional diesel engine was suitable for operation with motor gasoline and light gasoline , diesel engines with the MAN-M process are suitable for gasoline with up to 86 octane. For some diesel engines not designed for operation with petrol (e.g. BMW M21 ), a mixture of petrol and gas oil is permitted in an emergency .
