The Friedrich Erdmann Maschinenfabrik was a motorcycle - and car manufacturers , which in Gera was located. From 1904 passenger and delivery vehicles were manufactured there under the name Erdmann . From 1906 the brand name was FEG (Friedrich Erdmann, Gera).
The cars were equipped with built-in engines from various manufacturers. The Fafnir works supplied the engines for the voiturettes. The models 18/20 hp and 35/40 hp had four-cylinder engines of Horch . The Wilhelm Körting automobile plant supplied two-cylinder engines for the 12/14 hp and four-cylinder engines for the 26/28 hp . The rear wheels were driven via a friction gear, which was only used for starting. When the cars had reached their cruising speed, the engines were coupled directly to the rear-wheel drive.
Due to a lack of demand, automobile production was stopped again in 1908, but the Erdmann friction drive was taken over by the Berlin motor vehicle factory .
