Motor vehicle works Heinle & Wegelin was a German manufacturer of motor vehicles .

Company history

The company from Augsburg-Oberhausen has been producing bicycles since 1890 . In 1898 the production of automobiles began . The brand names were Heinle & Wegelin and Vindelica . Production ended at the end of 1900 when bankruptcy began. The company was only deleted in 1903.

Brand name Heinle & Wegelin

Heinle & Wegelin motor tricycle

Under this brand name, motor tricycles were created , which were similar to the tricycles of De Dion-Bouton . The vehicle designer was Oskar Blessing, based on a design by Ludwig Rüb, who had previously manufactured motorcycles under his name . Heinle & Wegelin presented a vehicle at the motor vehicle exhibition that took place in Düsseldorf from September 17th to 24th, 1898 , although it was not to be regarded as an official exhibit. This vehicle is described as a two-seater. The engine developed 2 hp.

The series models had a single-cylinder , four-stroke , air-cooled engine that developed 1.5 hp . Behind the front saddle was either a second saddle or a back seat. The vehicle was 200 cm long, 100 cm wide and 85 cm high. The curb weight was given as 150 kg. Trailers were available for people, luggage or as an ambulance.

One vehicle has been preserved and exhibited in the traffic center of the Deutsches Museum in Munich .

Brand name Vindelica

Under this brand name, four-wheeled small cars with two seats were created. A motor with 3.5 HP (2.6 kW) provided the drive, which delivered its power to the rear wheels via a three-speed gearbox. In the UK these cars were offered as Liliput .
