The vehicle Fabrik AG was a German automobile manufacturer in Darmstadt . The Fafag brand used should not be confused with the “Fadag” brand of the Düsseldorf vehicle factory .
Company history
The company was founded on April 12, 1922 in the legal form of a stock corporation by Otto Heinrich Graf von Hagenburg and his father Otto Heinrich zu Schaumburg-Lippe with the purpose of producing motor vehicles ; the share capital was 2.5 million marks . Co-owners were the Darmstadt manufacturer Wilhelm Goebel, the businessman Emil Zimmer, the banker Karl Lehmann and the engineer Georg Hoffmann. The designer Hoffmann, who had come from the Hessische Automobil-Gesellschaft (HAG), left FAFAG in mid-1923 and went back to HAG. The commercial register entry was made on March 12, 1923. As early as September 8, 1924, insolvency proceedings had to be opened against the company's assets. Due to lack of funds, the proceedings were finally discontinued on November 5, 1928.
In the short period of the company's existence, Fafag cars were produced in Darmstadt . A small car was offered with a 4/25 hp four-cylinder in - line engine that already had an overhead camshaft . FAFAG disappeared from the market at the end of 1923. A total of around 120 to 130 vehicles were built.
