The Pluto automobile factory AG , previously automobile factory Zella-Mehlis GmbH , was a German manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The automobile factory Zella-Mehlis GmbH was founded in 1924 in Zella-Mehlis . In the same year, the production of automobiles began under the direction of Gustav Ehrhardt. The brand name was Pluto . In 1927 the name was changed to Pluto Automobilfabrik AG with a simultaneous increase in the share capital from 600,000 to 1,000,000 Reichsmarks. The director Ernst Wolff switches to series production. Production ended in the same year.

The company manufactured Amilcar vehicles under license . One model was the 4/20 PS , which corresponded to the Amilcar Type C 4 . Its four-cylinder engine had a capacity of 1004 cc and made 20 hp . There was also the 5/30 hp , which corresponded to the Amilcar type CGS . Its four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 1074 cm³ made 30 hp. The 5/30/65 hp racing version , which developed 65 hp with a supercharger , was derived from this . This model had some success in car races, driven by Friedrich, Glockenbach, Mederer and von Eine.

A Pluto from 1924 with the license plate IE 45139 of the German Reich still exists.
