The Amilcar Type CGS and the Amilcar Type CGS 3 variant ( Amilcar CGS and Amilcar CGS 3 for short ) were cars of the French brand Amilcar . The CGS stood for Chassis Grand Sport .

description

This sports car was presented at the Paris Motor Show in October 1923 . It was designed to be even sportier than the Amilcar Type CS on which it was based.

The vehicle again had a four-cylinder engine with thermosiphon cooling . The bore was enlarged to 60 mm, while the stroke was still 95 mm. That resulted in a displacement of 1074 cm³ and 7  Cheval fiscal . 33  HP engine power is specified.

Front engine , cardan shaft and rear wheel drive were typical for the time. The transmission had three gears. The wheelbase was 2425 mm and the track width was 1090 mm. A differential gear was dispensed with. The vehicles had four-wheel brakes.

The CGS was a two-seater roadster and weighed between 500 and 550 kg. The CGS 3 was added in 1924 . He had a third seat behind the front seats, which was arranged above the rear axle and was therefore difficult to reach. Its curb weight was given as 630 kg. The bodybuilder Carrosserie Charles Duval also made a coupé .

Using the serial numbers 1 to 2000 and 41,001 to 41,925, it can be seen that a maximum of 2925 CGS were created. However, an overlap with the successor model is possible. Numbers 1 to 525 and 50,526 to 50,698 have been handed down for the CGS 3 , which indicates a maximum of 698 vehicles. No other Amilcar model achieved these numbers of more than 3000 pieces.

Production was stopped at the end of 1926. The successor was the Amilcar Type CGSS presented in June 1926 .
