The Amilcar Type E ( Amilcar E for short ) was the first mid-range passenger car from the French brand Amilcar .

The model was presented at the Paris Motor Show in October 1922 .

The four-cylinder engine in monoblock design corresponded conceptually the smaller engines Amilcar. At first the cylinders had a 65 mm bore and 112 mm stroke , which resulted in a displacement of 1487 cm³ . From October 1924 the bore was increased to 67 mm, after which the displacement was 1579 cm³. The engine output is initially given as 42  hp and later 46 hp. Both engines were classified with 10  Cheval fiscal and had a thermosiphon cooling . The transmission had four gears.

The wheelbase was 297 cm and the track was 125 cm. The length of the vehicle was around 400 cm and the empty weight around 1200 kg. It was the first Amilcar model with four-wheel brakes. It also had a differential gear .

Four-seater touring cars and roadsters are mentioned in terms of body designs.

Production was stopped at the end of 1925. Successor was Amilcar Type J .

The first version received the serial numbers from 1 to 400 and the second from 401 to 500. This suggests a maximum of 500 vehicles.
