The Amilcar Type C 6 (short Amilcar C 6 ) was a passenger car of the French brand Amilcar . There is also the notation Amilcar Type C6 .

description

This model was the street version of the Amilcar Type CO racing car . It was presented at the Paris Motor Show in October 1926 and was produced from 1927 to 1930.

The vehicle had a water-cooled six-cylinder in-line engine with a cylinder head integrated into the cylinder block and two overhead camshafts ( DOHC valve control ). 56 mm bore and 74 mm stroke resulted in a displacement of 1094 cm³ and a tax classification of 12  Cheval fiscal . With a Roots blower, the engine developed 62  hp at 5600 rpm. It was started with a crank. The power was transmitted to the rear axle via a single-plate dry clutch, a non-synchronized four-speed gearbox with center shift and a shaft.

The chassis corresponded to a large extent to that of the type CO in the short version with rigid axles, front with semi-elliptic and rear with quarter-elliptic springs as well as friction shock absorbers of the Hartford type on all four wheels. They were spoked wheels with central locking, tire size 4.00 × 19. Drum brakes on all four wheels were operated mechanically; the handbrake lever was attached outside. The information on dimensions and weight varies depending on the source. The wheelbase was 2195 mm or 2235 mm and the track width was 1060 mm at the front and 1090 mm at the rear. The car was 3400 mm long and 1225 mm wide. The curb weight is 550 kg or 565 kg. The top speed was around 165 km / h to 170 km / h. The Type C 6 accelerated from zero to 100 km / h in 12 seconds.

Superstructures were two-seat roadsters or single-seat racing cars on a ladder frame. The fuel tank with a capacity of 100 liters was built into the rear behind the driver's seat.

The high purchase price prevented larger quantities. One source estimates that between 50 and 60 vehicles were built. They had engine numbers from 90,000 and chassis numbers from 11,000.

Auction results

Bonhams offered two vehicles from 1927 at an auction in 2015 . Their lower estimates were £ 250,000 and £ 350,000, respectively. They weren't sold.
