The Kleinauto- and engine plants Koch & Co. was a German engine and automobile manufacturers.

Company history

Karl Koch founded the company in Erfurt . One source names 1919 as the year of foundation. Another indicates that Koch took over Kleinautobau from Gotha when Johannes Topf was founded in 1920 . From 1920 automobiles were manufactured there under the name Koco .

In 1923 it went bankrupt. The successor was Kocowerke GmbH Erfurt small car and engine construction . The share capital was 4.25 million Reichsmarks. The shareholders were Director Kocks, Ms. Schmidt and Max Landsmann. The managing directors were compatriot, Erwin Schmidt and Friedrich Wilhelm Otto. Carl Koch had full power of attorney. Vehicle production ended in 1926. In 1930 the company was dissolved.

In 1920 a two-seater, sporty small car with a 4/16 hp two - cylinder boxer engine was created . The engine power was passed on to the differential-less rear axle via a chain.

At least one vehicle took part in the small car race at the Berlin AVUS in 1923.

In 1925 a larger car with a 6/24 hp four-cylinder engine was added.

In 1926 both cars disappeared from the market. A total of around 800 vehicles were built.
