NSU Fiat
NSU-Fiat was a sales and license production company for Fiat automobiles in Germany .
description
The Vereinigte Fahrzeugwerke AG Neckarsulm , which had got into economic difficulties due to the forced takeover of Schebera Automobilwerke AG in Berlin , were supported by the Italian Fiat Group and the Dresdner Bank . In the summer of 1929, NSU Automobil AG was founded with a share value of RM 2.0 million , which took over the new Heilbronn plant and several NSU 7/34 hp cars from NSU . NSU continued to exist independently of this in Neckarsulm , which later led to name conflicts (see below).
This NSU model continued to be built until 1931. In addition, attempts were made to bring out the Fiat 522 as NSU, but this did not lead to the expected results.
In 1934, a NSU Fiat 1000 from its own production was brought out for the first time , which was a licensed version of the Italian Fiat 508 Balilla . Like the Italian original, the car also received a 1100 cc engine in 1938. In 1936 the NSU-Fiat 1500 and in 1937 the NSU-Fiat 500, also Italian licensed products, were added. Fiat cars made in Italy were also sold in Germany. In 1941 the company ceased its activities due to the war.
After the Second World War , license production of Italian Fiat models was offered again, namely the following:
- NSU-Fiat 500 C (= Fiat 500 Topolino C ) 1951–1955, 9,064 pieces
- NSU / Fiat Weinsberg 500 (Coupé and Limousette based on the Fiat Nuova 500 ) 1959–1963, 6,228 pieces
- NSU-Fiat Jagst 600/770 (= Fiat 600 ) 1956–1969, 171,355 pieces
- NSU-Fiat 850 Adria (= Fiat 850 ) 1965–1967, 6,619 pieces
- NSU-Fiat Neckar / Europe (= Fiat 1100-103 ) 1953–1968, 159,731 pieces
- NSU-Fiat 1400 (= Fiat 1400 ) 1953–1954, 1,400 pieces
- NSU-Fiat 1900 (= Fiat 1900 ) s. Fiat 1400
- Fiat 124 1967–1972, 18,979 pieces
- Fiat 125 1968–1972, 13,033 pieces
- Fiat 128 1970–1973, 27,088 pieces
In 1958 NSU began production of the NSU Prinz in Neckarsulm . This meant that there were two cars from different manufacturers with the same trademark on the German market. After a legal dispute between FIAT and NSU, an amicable settlement was reached in October 1959. On January 1, 1960, NSU Automobil AG was now called Neckar Automobilwerke AG Heilbronn, before. NSU Automobil AG . On September 1, 1966, the brand name NSU was completely abandoned. In 1968 the name Neckar also disappeared .
In 1973 the company finally ceased automobile production. A total of 412,085 vehicles were assembled here from 1929 to 1973. Fiat's German sales company was based in Heilbronn until 2006 and is still present there, although the head office was relocated to Frankfurt at the end of 2007.
