The Leggatti automotive Cohnen & Sommer Sell GmbH was a German manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Bernd Cohnen founded the company together with Hermann and Rainer Sommersell. The articles of association were dated November 28, 1989. The entry in the commercial register dates from April 20, 1990. The company's headquarters were at Hansaallee 2 in Düsseldorf . In 1989 the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Leggatti . In 1994, 1997 and 2001 there were settlement proceedings. It was deleted from the commercial register on January 23, 2002.

The first model was the GTS . Leggatti used a chassis of General Motors with the V8 engine of the Chevrolet Corvette with 5700 cc displacement and 300  hp (221 kW). The open body was made of plastic reinforced with carbon and aramid fibers and was similar to that of the Ferrari Daytona . There was a choice of a five-speed gearbox and a four-speed automatic. The new price was about 137,000 DM .

The next model, America , also spelled America , came out in 1991. This open vehicle resembled a Ferrari from the 1960s .

The company also offered a replica of a Mercedes-Benz SSK that Guitolar produced in Uruguay . A six-cylinder engine from Daimler-Benz with a displacement of 2500 cc provided the drive. In 1992 the new price was DM 51,300 for the kit and DM 93,480 as a complete vehicle.
