Company history

Horacio Torrendell developed a prototype in Uruguay in 1962 . It did not go into production at first because Torrendell left the country. On his return he founded Horacio Torrendell SA in Montevideo . He revised the project and launched it under the brand name Torrendell . 1969 was followed by another model, as according to sources Torre Dell or Indio was marketed. Later the name was changed to Guitolar Ltda. One source used the old company name until 1984 and the new company name only from 1989. In addition, vehicles from Bentley , Land Rover , Rolls-Royce and Rover were imported. From 1978 to 1984 there was another model for which the brand names Torrendell and Halcon have been passed down. In 1989 two more models followed, which, depending on the source , were marketed immediately as Torrelaro or initially as Torrendell and only from 1995 as Torrelaro . The brand name Torrelaro was registered on January 20, 1989.

Vehicle production ended in 2004.

Hardy Motors imported vehicles from the USA for the US market.
