Kevin Koe (born January 11, 1975 in Yellowknife ) is a Canadian curler . He plays the skip position.

Career

Koe achieved his first international success as the skip of the Canadian team (third: Blake MacDonald , second: Carter Rycroft , lead: Nolan Thiessen , alternate: Jamie King ) at the 2010 World Cup by winning the gold medal. He had qualified for participation in the World Cup with his first victory at the Canadian men's championship The Brier in 2010. Koe represented the province of Alberta there . In the final of the World Cup, he faced the Norwegian team of Torger Nergård , who were defeated 9: 3.

The next win at the Brier followed in 2014 with a final win against the British Columbia team of John Morris . Koe was therefore able to take part in the 2014 World Cup for Canada , but missed the finals after first losing the page playoff game against Thomas Ulsrud's Norwegian team and then the semi-final game against Oskar Eriksson's Swedish team . A third defeat followed in the game for third place against Switzerland with Skip Peter de Cruz .

At the Brier 2016 Koe won the gold medal for the third time. In the final, he and his team defeated Brad Gushue's team, who were competing for Newfoundland and Labrador . As the representative of Canada at the 2016 World Cup , he was able to repeat his success from 2010 and win the gold medal again, this time with Marc Kennedy as third, Brent Laing as second, Ben Hebert as lead and Scott Pfeifer as alternate. In the final, the Canadians defeated Rasmus Stjerne's Danish team .

In 2017 Koe was unable to defend his title at Brier as he lost to Brad Gushue in the final. He won the silver medal at the Canadian championship for the second time (after 2012).

Koe has been playing on the World Curling Tour since 1999 and has won numerous competitions.

In November 2017 he won the Canadian elimination competition ( Roar of the Rings ) by beating Mike McEwen's team in the final and represented Canada with his team at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang . The team was in second place after six wins and three defeats after the Round Robin . In the semifinals, the Canadians lost to Team USA led by John Shuster and the game for third place against Switzerland with Skip Peter de Cruz was also lost. It was the first time a Canadian men's team failed to win a medal at the Winter Olympics.
