Torger Nergård (born December 12, 1974 in Trondheim ) is a Norwegian curler and Olympic champion . He plays in the third position .

Life

Nergård played as a substitute at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City . The Norwegian team beat the favored Canadians with Skip Kevin Martin in the final and became Olympic champions. At the Olympic Winter Games in 2006 he was in the Norwegian team around Skip Pål Trulsen again as a substitute. The team finished fifth.

At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , he won the silver medal in the Norwegian team led by Skip Thomas Ulsrud. In the semifinals they defeated the Swiss team around Skip Markus Eggler 7: 5. In the final, however, they were defeated by the Canadian team with Skip Kevin Martin 3: 6. In his fourth Olympic participation at the 2014 Winter Games , he played in third place, like four years before, and finished fifth with the Norwegian team. Four years later, he came back to sixth place at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang as third of the Norwegian team led by Thomas Ulsrud after four wins and five defeats in the Round Robin.

He achieved his greatest success at the World Curling Championships in 2014 when he won the gold medal with Thomas Ulsrud. Before that, he had already won three bronze medals (2006, 2008 and 2009 ) and one silver medal ( 2010 ). At the 2015 World Cup , the Ulsrud team was unable to successfully defend the title due to a final defeat against the Swedish team led by Niklas Edin .

Nergård has won the European Curling Championships three times ( 2005 , 2010 and 2011 ). There are also six silver medals ( 2007 , 2008 , 2012 , 2013 , 2014 and 2016 ) and three bronze medals ( 2002 , 2009 and 2015 ).
