Niklas Edin (born July 6, 1985 in Sidensjö, Örnsköldsvik municipality ) is a Swedish curler .

At the 2009 European Curling Championships in Aberdeen , Edin won the gold medal with his team Third Sebastian Kraupp , Second Fredrik Lindberg , Lead Viktor Kjäll , Alternate Oskar Eriksson . The team finished second in the Round Robin. The page playoff game was won 6-3 against Norway. In the final they beat Switzerland 6: 5.

At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , he was in the small final with his team and played for the bronze medal. This time he lost the game for 3rd place against the Swiss team around Skip Markus Eggler 4: 5. 4 years later, at the 2014 Winter Games , he was able to win bronze by beating Liu Rui's Chinese team for third place .

Edin won his first world championship medal at the 2011 world championships by winning the third place match against the Norwegians for Thomas Ulsrud . The following year there was a new edition of this encounter, which Edin was able to win again. In 2014 , he won his first gold medal with a final win against Brad Jacobs' Canadian team . He was able to repeat this success at the 2015 World Cup ; in the final, he and his team beat Thomas Ulsrud 9: 5. In the 2016 World Cup , however, he was only able to achieve sixth place. In 2017 he was in the final again, this time against Brad Gushue's Canadian team . The game was lost 3: 5. This final pairing was reissued at the 2018 World Cup . Edin and his team have dominated the European Curling Championships since 2009 . So far he has won six gold medals and one silver medal. In 2017 he became European champion for the fourth time in a row with a final victory against the Scottish team around Kyle Smith .

Edin and his team (third: Oskar Eriksson , second: Rasmus Wranå , lead: Christoffer Sundgren ) represented Sweden at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games . After seven wins and two defeats, they finished the Round Robin first. In the semifinals they defeated Switzerland with Skip Peter de Cruz . In the final they were defeated by the US team led by John Shuster with 7:10 and won the silver medal.
