The men's curling world championship (officially Capital One World Men's Curling Championship 2012 ) took place from March 31 to April 8, 2012 in the St. Jakobshalle in Basel , Switzerland . It was played in the usual mode. The teams played a round robin tournament . The first four teams qualify for the finals and play for the medals.

qualification

Switzerland as the host nation and Canada as the reigning world champion are firmly qualified . The field of twelve participants is completed by the qualifiers of the European Curling Championship 2011 and the Curling Pacific Championship 2011 as well as the teams from the North America zone.
