The 1961 Scotch Cup was the 3rd edition of the curling tournament and was held from March 21st to 30th of that year in the Scottish cities of Ayr , Kirkcaldy , Edinburgh and Perth . The cup competition today has the status of the men's curling world championship .

The Scotch Cup was played in a round robin tournament between teams from Scotland , Canada and, for the first time, the United States . The games were scheduled for twelve ends .

Canada won the cup by beating Scotland in the final.
