The men's curling world championship in 1979 (officially: Air Canada Silver Broom 1979 ) was the 21st edition (including the Scotch Cup ) of the men's curling world championships. It was held from March 26th to April 1st of that year in Bern , Switzerland, in the Allmend ice rink .
The World Curling Championships the men was in a round-robin tournament ( round-robin ) between the teams from Scotland , Canada , the United States , the Federal Republic of Germany , Sweden , Norway , France , the Switzerland , Denmark and Italy played out.
The games were scheduled for ten ends .
After finishing second last year, the Norwegians won their first world title in the final against host Switzerland.
