Gunnar Meland is a Norwegian curler and Olympic champion .

Meland made his international debut at the 1976 World Cup in Duluth , but he remained without a medal. In the same year he won his first precious metal with the silver medal at the European Championships in West Berlin .

Meland won the world title in 1979 and 1984.

Meland was a substitute for the Norwegian team in the XV. 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics in curling. Skip Eigil Ramsfjell's team won the Olympic gold medal after a 10-2 win in the final against Switzerland under Skip Hansjörg Lips . Since curling was still a demonstration sport at that time, the medal has no official status.
