Bemidji Curling Club

The Bemidji Curling Club is an American curling club from Bemidji , Minnesota . He is a multiple title holder at state and national championships. The greatest successes are winning the silver medal for the women's team at the 2005 World Cup and the bronze medal for the men's team for the United States at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin .

The history of the Bemidji Curling Club begins in the 1930s. In 1952 the first national championship of Minnesota could be won. In the following years the title was won two more times. In 1979, Scott Baird's team won the fourth national championship for the Bemidji Curling Club and the national championship for the first time. In the 1990s, the club rose to become one of the leading curling clubs in the United States. Numerous titles at state and national level have been won. Successes were achieved especially in the junior sector. The highlight was the junior world championship under the leadership of Cassandra Johnson in 2002. In addition, the men's and women's teams also qualified several times to form the USA team at World Championships and Olympic Games. In 2005 the women's team won the World Cup silver medal, in 2006 the men's team only lost to the eventual winner Canada in the semifinals in 2006 and won bronze.
