Rasmus Stjerne (born May 26, 1988 in Hvidovre ) is a Danish curler .

Career

Stjerne has participated in five Junior World Curling Championships . In 2004 and 2005 he took part in third for Skip Kenneth Jørgensen . In 2006, 2007 and 2008 he took part in the Junior World Championships as the skip of his team and reached places five, four and seven. In 2009 he finished the round robin with his team in second place and won the final against the team from Canada .

Stjerne took part in the 2010 European Curling Championship and reached the final with his team by beating Christof Schwaller's team . There he had to give up 3-5 against Norway under Thomas Ulsrud .

In the national decision in Denmark to participate in the 2011 World Curling Championships , he had to admit defeat to his father Tommy Stjerne , but traveled as a trainer. In the same year he again took part in the 2011 European Curling Championship , but was able to win in the 3 vs. 4 did not defeat Skip Jiri Snítil's team . He then won the bronze medal game 9-6 against Jiri Snítil's Czech team.

At the European Championships in 2012 and 2013, as well as the World Championships in 2013 , he reached fourth place and thus qualified for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi . The Danish team was sixth with him as Skip.

At the 2016 World Cup , he moved into the final with Skip John Shuster after beating the Americans in the semi- finals. The game against the Canadian team around Kevin Koe was lost 3: 5. Despite the silver medal at the World Cup, Stjerne was only last at the European Championships in 2016 with the Danish team.

In December 2017 he secured Denmark with his team (third: Johnny Frederiksen , second: Mikkel Poulsen , lead: Oliver Dupont , alternate: Morten Berg Thomsen ) by beating the Czech team in the final at the Olympic qualification tournament in  Pilsen,  one of the last two starting places for the  2018 winter Olympics  in  Pyeongchang . There he came with the Danish team after two wins and seven defeats in the round robin in tenth and last place.

In March 2018, he and his teammates announced their temporary retirement from the sport of curling.

Personal

Stjerne's father, Tommy Stjerne, also plays curling and won the bronze medal at the 1990 World Cup .
