Mike Riddle (born June 17, 1986 in Edmonton ) is a Canadian freestyle skier . He starts in the halfpipe discipline .

Career

Riddle has been participating in FIS competitions since 2004 . At the Freestyle Skiing World Championships 2005 in Ruka , he achieved 15th place. He had his first World Cup race in January 2006 in Les Contamines , which he finished in second place. In the 2007/08 season he finished third in Inawashiro and won his first World Cup victory in Chiesa in Valmalenco . Since the 2008/09 season he has also competed in the AFP World Tour. That season he finished third at the US Freeskiing Open in Copper Mountain and the Dumont Cup in Newry . At the 2009 Freestyle Skiing World Championships in Inawashiro , he came in fifth. The following season he won the Dew Tour in Breckenridge . In February 2011 he became world champion on the halfpipe at the Freestyle Skiing World Championships in Park City . In the 2012/13 season he won the The North Face Park and Pipe Open Series and the US Grand Prix in Copper Mountain . He won the World Cup in Sierra Nevada and came third in Sochi . At the Freestyle Skiing World Championships in Oslo he came fourth. He finished the season in fourth place in the overall World Cup, third place in the AFP World Tour halfpipe rating and first place in the halfpipe World Cup. At the beginning of the 2013-14 season, he came in second at The North Face Park and Pipe Open Series in Copper Mountain . Another second place followed in the World Cup in Breckenridge . In his first Olympic participation in Sochi in 2014, he won the silver medal. In March 2015, he won his fourth World Cup in Tignes . In December 2016, he took second place on the US Revolution Tour in Copper Mountain. He won the silver medal at the Freestyle Skiing World Championships in Sierra Nevada in 2017 . The following year he was fourth in the Winter X Games and sixth in the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang .
