Carla Somaini (born October 13, 1991 ) is a Swiss snowboarder . She starts in the freestyle disciplines .

Career

Somaini has been participating in competitions of the FIS and the TTR World Snowboard Tour since 2010 . She won her first victories in the Audi Snowboard Series in January 2012 in Davos in the halfpipe and in November 2013 on the Glacier 3000 in slopestyle . At the 2013 Winter Universiade in Monte Bondone , she won the silver medal in slopestyle. In January 2013 she was third in the halfpipe at the Burton European Open in Laax . She completed her first World Cup in March 2014 on the Kreischberg , which she finished in 16th place in slopestyle. In the 2014/15 season, she finished ninth and fifth in the Slopestyle World Cup. At the 2015 Winter Universiade in Sierra Nevada , she won the bronze medal in the halfpipe. In April 2015 she became Swiss champion in Slopestyle in Corvatsch . At the 2017 Snowboard World Championships in Sierra Nevada , she came in 30th place in slopestyle and 15th in big air . After finishing 16th in the Air & Style in Beijing at the beginning of the 2017/18 season, she won her first World Cup victory in the Big Air in Mönchengladbach and thus reached fourth place in the Big Air World Cup at the end of the season. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , she finished 20th in Slopestyle and 15th in Big Air.
