The Piz Corvatsch ( [ˌpitskorˈvatʃ] ^{? / I} ) is 3451  m above sea level. M. high mountain in the Bernina Alps in the Swiss canton of Graubünden .

Development

Two aerial tramway sections lead from Surlej ( 1864  m above sea level ) via Murtèl ( 2698  m above sea level ) to the Corvatsch station ( 3297  m above sea level ) with a panorama restaurant and a viewing terrace at 3303  m above sea level. M. East of here and up to the Piz Murtèl ( 3432  m above sea level. M. ) extends a glacier , the Vadret dal Corvatsch .

Ski Area

The Corvatsch-Furtschellas ski area extends around the mountain, with 23 pistes 56 km in length between 1870  m above sea level. M. and 3290  m above sea level. M. and contains three aerial tramways, six chair lifts and four ski lifts. One of them is in Cristin's Kinderland in Surlej. The valley locations are Sils Maria and Silvaplana with the district Surlej . Summer skiing was stopped in 1993. The Hahnensee descent , which leads past the Hahnensee ( Rhaeto-Romanic Lej dals Chöds ) to St. Moritz-Bad , and the longest illuminated night piste in Switzerland are well known.

history

• 1898: Philip Mark and Claudio Saratz make the first ascent of Piz Corvatsch on skis.
• 1950s: Planning of the mountain railway at an altitude of 3,303 m.
• 1963: A cable car and two ski lifts on Piz Corvatsch open up the northern slopes of St. Moritz as far as the Sils area.
• From 1963: The ski area is expanded and the lifts are modernized, including the middle station of the Murtel mountain railway.
• 1997: The Surlej-Murtèl-Corvatsch large cabin lift goes into operation
• 2017: Merger with Diavolezza Lagalb AG to create the "fabulous mountain world"
