Kjersti Buaas

Kjersti Østgaard Buaas (born January 5, 1981 in Trondheim ) is a Norwegian snowboarder . She took part in the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City and those in Turin . At the 2006 Winter Games, Buaas won the bronze medal in the halfpipe .

Career

Kjersti Buaas made her international debut at the Snowboard Junior World Championships in 1999 on the Alpe di Siusi . There she won the silver medal in the halfpipe. As a result, she took part in the Snowboard World Cup and achieved placements in the top 20. At the Snowboard World Championships 2001 in Madonna di Campiglio , Buaas reached 14th place on January 27, 2001. Kjersti Buaas celebrated her first World Cup victory on September 7, 2001 in Valle Nevado . She participated in the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City . In the snowboard competitions that were held in Park City , Buaas reached fourth place in the halfpipe. As a result, Kjersti Buaas was able to achieve some top ten placements in the Snowboard World Cup, including the victory on December 7, 2002 in Tandådalen . At the Snowboard World Championships 2005 in Whistler , Canada , Kjersti Buaas took 14th place again, like four years earlier. At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , Kjersti Buaas took part in the halfpipe snowboard competition held in Bardonecchia . In third place she won the bronze medal. On November 2, 2007 Buaas won the third World Cup competition in her career in Saas-Fee .

Buaas is an athlete ambassador for the development aid organization Right to Play .
