The 2002/03 season started with quite good results, with two third and one second place. He took seventh place in the halfpipe discipline and fifth in Big Air. The second junior snowboard world championship in Prato Nevoso in 2003 went very badly compared to the previous year. Because he ended up in 11th place in the half pipe. In Kreischberg 2003 he won the bronze medal in big air at his first snowboard world championship in 2003. At the Finnish championships in 2003 in Vuokatti he got the silver medal in big air and halfpipe competition.

He celebrated his first World Cup victory in the 2003/04 season in Valle Nevado in the halfpipe and later in the season he scored three more victories. In 2004 he became WSF halfpipe world champion and also won the Finnish halfpipe championships. In 2005 he won the X-Games in the superpipe. He is the first non-American participant to do this. At his second snowboard world championship in 2005 in Whistler , Canada , Autti won two gold medals. At his first and only Winter Olympics in Turin in 2006 , he came fifth in the halfpipe.

In the 2006/07 season he only competed in Big Air in Stockholm, Sweden, and finished tenth. The 2007 snowboard world championship in Arosa went quite well, as he won the silver medal in the big air and was fifth in the halfpipe. In the 2007/08 season he was only present at two World Cup stations, taking fifth place in the halfpipe in Cardrona and third place in Big Air in Rotterdam . At an FIS race in Tahkovuori in 2008 he started in snowboard cross for the first time and finished 21st. In the 2008/09 season he finished ninth in the Big Air in Stockholm and in La Molina in the halfpipe. A season later, he was in the top 10 in all four World Cup stations. In the 2010/11 and 2013/14 World Cups , he was only at one World Cup station at the start. At his fourth snowboard world championship in 2011 in La Molina, he was tenth in the halfpipe.
