Roope Tonteri (born March 18, 1992 in Valkeala ) is a Finnish snowboarder . He starts in the freestyle disciplines.

Career

Tonteri has been participating in the Ticket to Ride World Snowboard Tour competitions since 2006 . He drove his first FIS World Cup race in January 2008 in Graz , which he finished in 32nd place in Big Air. A month later he achieved his first World Cup podiums in Moscow with second place, also in Big Air. In January 2011, he won the Burton European Open in slopestyle. At the Snowboard World Championships 2011 in La Molina he came ninth in Big Air. In August 2011 he won the Billabong Slope-Style in Wanaka, New Zealand . He drove his most successful season to date in 2012/13. He won Big Air at Stars of the Stadium in Lahti , Big Air at Burn River Jump in Livigno and Slopestyle at Nescafé Champs Leysin. At the Burton European Open 2012 in Laax and at the US Snowboarding Grand Prix (was also an FIS World Cup race) in Copper Mountain , he came in second place in slopestyle. At the 2013 Snowboard World Championships in Stoneham , he won gold in big air and in slopestyle. A week later, like last year, he finished ninth in the Slopestyle at the Winter X-Games. He finished the season in the Ticket to Ride World Snowboard Tour in fifth place in the Slopestyle ranking and fourth in the overall ranking and in the Big Air overall ranking. In the FIS World Cup he also achieved fourth place in the overall Big Air ranking. At his first Olympic participation in Sochi in 2014 , he finished eleventh in slopestyle. In January 2015 he won the Big Air Grand Prix de Russie in Moscow. In the same month he was again world champion in Big Air at the 2015 Snowboard World Championships in Kreischberg . In the slopestyle competition, he took silver behind Ryan Stassel . This was followed by a third place in Big Air at the Ale Invite in Ale and a second place in Slopestyle at the Grandvalira Total Fight. After third place in the Slopestyle at the Pleasure Jam in Schladming at the beginning of the 2015/16 season, he took 13th place in Big Air at the X-Games Oslo 2016. At the Snowboard World Championships 2016 in Yabuli , he finished 30th place in Slopestyle and fourth place in the big air competition. At the beginning of the following season he won his first World Cup victory in Big Air in Mönchengladbach . In the further course of the season he achieved ninth place in Big Air at the World Cup in Copper Mountain and second place in Big Air at the Grand Prix de Russie in Moscow and at the end of the season he reached 14th place in the Freestyle World Cup and fourth place in the Big Air World Cup . At the Winter-X-Games 2017 in Aspen he finished 18th in slopestyle and at the X-Games Norway 2017 in Hafjell he was 13th in slopestyle and seventh in big air. In March 2017 he was in snowboard - World Championships in Sierra Nevada, fourth in Big Air.
