The list of snowboard world champions includes all medal winners at the snowboard world championships held by the FIS since 1996 . Previously, the now defunct International Snowboarding Federation hosted world championships, but the world champions there are not included in the list , but instead are noted in the list of snowboard world champions (ISF) . The most successful athlete in these competitions is the French Karine Ruby with six gold and four silver medals . The French team is also the best team in the nations' standings, leading both in the men and women. The most successful male athlete, the Canadian Jasey-Jay Anderson , won four gold medals.

The competition programs are identical for women and men.
In addition to the slalom, the giant slalom, which was last held at the 2001 World Championships, is no longer part of the program .
