Ladina Jenny (born June 10, 1993 in Glarus ) is a Swiss snowboarder and two-time Olympian (2014, 2018). It starts in the parallel disciplines of slalom and giant slalom.

Career

Ladina Jenny had her first international success in January 2009 at the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival 2009 in Szczyrk . There she won bronze in the parallel giant slalom. She drove her first World Cup race in January 2010 on the Kreischberg and finished 28th in the parallel giant slalom.

Since 2008 she has also started in the European Cup . So far she has reached 20 podium finishes, five of them victories. In the 2011/12 season she came fourth and in the 2012/13 and 2015/16 season second place in the parallel cup ranking. In January 2014 she came in the World Cup in Bad Gastein with the tenth and sixth place in the parallel slalom for the first time under the top ten. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , she came 24th in the parallel slalom and 14th in the parallel giant slalom. The following year she finished 24th in the parallel giant slalom and 19th in the parallel slalom at the 2015 Snowboard World Championships on Kreischberg.

At the beginning of the 2015/16 season she achieved her first podium in the World Cup with second place in the parallel giant slalom in Carezza . In the further course of the season she came in the top ten four times in the World Cup, including second place in Moscow and at the end of the season she reached fourth place in the parallel giant slalom world cup, parallel slalom world cup and parallel world cup. In the European Cup, she achieved four podium finishes, one of which was a victory, and achieved third place in the parallel giant slalom classification and second place in both the parallel slalom and parallel classification.

In the 2016/17 season she reached nine World Cup appearances, two top ten placements. She took third place in the parallel giant slalom in Bansko and at the end of the season she was 16th in the parallel world cup. At the season highlight of the 2017 Snowboard World Championships in Sierra Nevada , she achieved 33rd place in the parallel slalom and 17th place in the parallel giant slalom. In April 2017, she was next to Nevin Galmarini in the men's Swiss championship in the parallel giant slalom. In the following season she achieved five top ten results, including third place in the parallel giant slalom in Lackenhof and Scuol , twelfth place in the parallel world cup and ninth place in the parallel giant slalom world cup.

In the parallel giant slalom held as part of the 2018 Winter Olympics , she started for Switzerland in Pyeongchang on February 24, but was unable to finish the race. At the end of March 2018, as in the previous year, she became Swiss champion in the parallel giant slalom. In August 2018, she fell on a racing bike tour on the descent from the Gotthard Pass and suffered injuries in the pelvic area. In the 2018/19 season she finished in the top ten five times in the World Cup, including third place in the parallel slalom in Winterberg and thus achieved sixth place in the parallel slalom World Cup. At the 2019 World Championships in Park City , she won the bronze medal in the parallel giant slalom. After third place in the parallel slalom and second place in the parallel giant slalom in Bannoye at the beginning of the 2019/20 season, she finished in the top ten seven times, including third place in the parallel giant slalom in Pyeongchang and thus achieved fourth place in the parallel world cup and parallel slalom World Cup and third place in the Parallel Giant Slalom World Cup.

Jenny has taken part in 83 World Cup races so far and was among the top ten 29 times (as of the end of the 2019/20 season).
