history

The church village with a scattered settlement area of one to three kilometers radius has its origin in the 15th century, when the Carthusian monks in Gaming created a meierhof with a fish pond called Hof an der Lacke . After the Carthusian monastery was abolished by Joseph II in 1782, further settlement was carried out by lumberjacks.

In 1963 the approximately 2.4 kilometer long chair lift up to the Ötscher was opened. Today Lackenhof is a winter sports resort with hotels, which from the 1990s had economic problems that foreign investors are trying to fix. So now (as of 2012) eleven of the 15 hotels are foreign owned.

Parish church

Parish church hl. Leonhard

The parish Lackenhof , the hl. Consecrated to Leonhard , it is in an elevated position on the north-western edge of the village. After Lackenhof was separated from the parish of Gaming in 1785, the church was built in 1786. In 1809 the church was elevated to a parish church. The tower on the west side and the side extensions were built between 1821 and 1837. The high altar from the 2nd quarter of the 18th century is a former side altar of the Kartäuserkirche Gaming and was moved here in 1784.
