Isabella Laböck (born April 6, 1986 in Prien am Chiemsee , Bavaria ) is a former German snowboarder . She started in the disciplines of parallel giant slalom , parallel slalom , giant slalom and snowboard cross and was a member of the German snowboard world cup team. In 2013 she became world champion in the parallel giant slalom.

Career

Laböck came to snowboarding at the age of six through her older brother Dominik Laböck . Just two years later she started her first races in the children's and youth sector. Laböck was unbeaten here for years. In the 1997/98 season she took part in the FIS race in Lenggries , was 19th and 17th in the snowboard giant slalom. Two years later she took part in the international Polish championships in Szczawnica and was sixth in giant slalom and fifth in parallel slalom. The first German championships in 2001 in Götschen / Bischofswiesen were mediocre for Laböck with 19th place in the parallel giant slalom and 11th place in the parallel slalom. On January 29th, 2002 she made her debut in the Snowboard World Cup in Bad Gastein and finished 33rd in the parallel slalom. At her first junior snowboard world championship in Cardrona in 2002 , she won the silver medal in the parallel giant slalom . In 2002 she won two bronze medals and one gold medal in the junior women category at the Sandboard World Championships in Hirschau . In the 2002/03 season she took part in the European Snowboard Cup for the first time . At the European Cup in Bischofswiesen, she came fourth in the snowboard cross competition. She was 104th in the overall ranking Parallel and 12th in snowboard cross.

In the World Cup she was able to collect her first World Cup points in Berchtesgaden with places 26th and 25th in snowboard cross and came 44th in the overall world cup snowboard cross. At her second Junior World Championship in 2003 in Prato Nevoso , she came in 16th place in snowboard cross and 13th in the parallel giant slalom . In the 2003/04 World Cup season , she finished all races between places 38th to 47th and came in 68th place in the overall standings in parallel. In the European Cup, on the other hand, things went better than in the World Cup, because she reached 14th place in Berchtesgaden and 12th place in the parallel giant slalom in Leysin and came in 43rd place in the overall European Cup standings. She played her third Junior World Championship in 2004 in Oberwiesenthal / Klinovec . The results were a sixth place in the parallel giant slalom and a 13th place in snowboard cross. The second German Championships in 2004 in Bischofswiesen were very successful because they won the bronze medal in the parallel slalom, fourth place in snowboard cross and ninth place in the parallel giant slalom. In the 2004/05 World Cup season she was only seen in Winterberg and came in 40th place in the parallel slalom. In the European Cup she took tenth place three times and came 42nd in the overall World Cup Parallel. At her first World Championships in 2005 in Whistler Mountain , she came in 38th place in the parallel giant slalom and 35th in the parallel slalom. Also in the 2005/06 season she was only in the World Cup in Sölden in the parallel giant slalom and finished 41st. In the overall ranking parallel she came in 80th place. She won her first podium place in the 2005/06 European Cup season with third place in Radstadt in the parallel slalom and reached 18th place in the overall Europcup ranking. At her last Junior World Championship in 2006 in Vivaldi Park, she won the silver medal in the parallel giant slalom. She won the silver medal in parallel slalom at the 2007 German championships in Kaunertal and took 13th place in the parallel giant slalom. In October 2006 Labböck finished fourth in Sölden and was able to surpass the previous result with a third place in San Vigilio di Marebbe, Italy . Further placements among the top ten followed. In the end, the 10th parallel overall ranking came out. In the European Cup she reached eighth place in Nendaz in the parallel slalom and was 60th in the parallel overall ranking . The 2007 World Championships in Arosa went much better than two years earlier. In the parallel giant slalom came 11th place and in the parallel slalom came seventh.

At the 2007/08 World Cup weekend in Limone Piemonte , she was disqualified in the parallel giant slalom. Later in the season, her best result of the season was a sixth place in La Molina in the parallel slalom. At the end of the season she came in 13th place in the overall ranking parallel. In the European Cup 2007/08 she just missed the podium in the parallel slalom in Bad Gastein with fourth place and in Nendaz she was also seventh in the parallel slalom. She secured the 41st place in the overall European Cup. She won second place in the German Snowboard Series in Hochfügen in the 2008/09 season . In December 2008 she won third place in the parallel slalom in Arosa. The other places in the World Cup were between eighth and twelfth place. In the overall ranking parallel she came in ninth place. At the German championships in 2009 in Bischofswiesen / Götschen, she won the silver medal in the parallel giant slalom. At the beginning of the 2009/10 season she drove in the German Championships 2010 in the parallel giant slalom in Hochfügen in fifth place. In the very first Nor-Am Cup in December 2009 , Laböck finished second in the parallel giant slalom in Steamboat Springs . In the Olympic season she came in the top ten four times in the World Cup. In the overall standings, Parallel was tenth. In the 2009/10 European Cup , she took part in only three European Cup stations. Her best result was a seventh place in the parallel giant slalom in Carezza . She landed in the overall standings parallel on the 57th place. At her first Olympic participation in Vancouver in 2010 , she only came in 15th place in the parallel giant slalom. At the beginning of the season she started in the Nor-Am Cup 2010/11 and was able to finish the first race in the parallel giant slalom as third. The next day she was able to win the second race in the parallel slalom. In the further course of the season she twice won second place in the World Cup in Telluride and Valmalenco and came fifth in the World Cup overall standings. She finished the 2011 World Championships in La Molina in parallel giant slalom and parallel slalom with places 11 and 28. At the German championships in 2011 she won the bronze medal in the parallel giant slalom in Bischofswiesen.

In the 2011/12 season she achieved six top ten results, including a second place in the parallel slalom in Carezza and she improved to fifth place in the overall standings Parallel. She did not manage to win the World Cup again but two at the German Championships in 2012 in Götschen. At the beginning of the 2012/13 season she won the European Cup in the parallel giant slalom in Kreischberg . By Christmas she was able to achieve further results in the top ten. In the World Cup , she again failed to win a World Cup until the World Championships. In January 2013, she surprisingly won the gold medal in the parallel giant slalom at the 2013 World Championships in Stoneham , Québec , which she dedicated to her deceased brother, who died in a traffic accident at the age of 19. After the World Championships she was able to bring in results in the midfield at the two World Cups. In the World Cup overall ranking Parallel she was 14th, in the parallel giant slalom 25th, in the parallel slalom 8th and in the European Cup overall ranking she was 12th. In the following 2013/14 World Cup season she again failed to win the World Cup, but she achieved further top ten results. She achieved her best result of the season in the European Cup in Hochfügen with fifth place. She was 11th in the parallel overall World Cup ranking, 10th in the parallel giant slalom, 13th in the parallel slalom and 37th in the overall European Cup ranking. At her second Olympic Winter Games in Sochi , she was 18th in the parallel giant slalom and tenth in the parallel slalom . Right at the beginning of the 2014/15 World Cup season , Laböck was disqualified for the second time in the parallel giant slalom in Carezza, and the season was mixed. At the home World Cup in Sudelfeld , she did not finish in the parallel giant slalom . In the World Cup overall ranking Parallel she was 28th, in the parallel giant slalom 27th and in the parallel slalom 26th.

In March 2017, Laböck ended her active sports career for health reasons. The main reason for this is above all a severe deterioration in osteoarthritis in her ankle.
