Marion Kreiner (born May 4, 1981 in Graz ) is a former Austrian snowboarder . She is an Olympian (2010), world champion in parallel giant slalom (2009) and multiple Austrian champion (2010–2012).
Marion Kreiner has been snowboarding since 1992 and has competed in races since 1994. In addition to the parallel giant slalom, she was also active in the parallel slalom in the World Cup.
At the Snowboard World Championships 2007 in Arosa , the Graz native won the silver medal in the parallel slalom, and the day before she finished fourth in the parallel giant slalom. On October 21, 2007 she celebrated her first World Cup victory at the race in Sölden, in the final she beat her two-year-old room colleague Heidi Neururer , to whom she had lost at the World Championships in Arosa.
At the Snowboard World Championships 2009 in Korea, Kreiner was world champion in the parallel giant slalom. The next day she finished 7th in the parallel slalom.
At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , she won the bronze medal in the parallel giant slalom. In 2013 she won the small crystal ball in the parallel giant slalom and 2nd place in the overall World Cup. Only a few points were missing from the large crystal ball.
On August 24, 2016, she announced her retirement from competitive sports.
Marion Kreiner attended the department for graphic and communication design at the HTBLVA Graz-Ortweinschule and started studying business psychology after graduation.
In November 2016 it became known that the 35-year-old was running for the Graz ÖVP in the municipal elections in a safe place. Today she works in an advertising agency and has been a councilor for the city of Graz since April 2017. Since June 2018 she has also been the managing director of the Graz People's Party.
