Prato Nevoso
Prato Nevoso (or Pratonevoso ) is a ski and holiday resort in the north of Italy on the slopes of Monte Mondolè ( 2382 m slm ).
Prato Nevoso is located at an altitude of 1480 m slm in the Ligurian Alps . The place is a district of the municipality Frabosa Sottana in the province of Cuneo in Piedmont . The distance to the center of Frabosa Sottana is about four kilometers, to Turin it is 112 kilometers and to Genoa about 132 kilometers. The place can be reached via the A6 Savona - Turin motorway .
The history of the spa began in the 1960s when entrepreneurs from Liguria planned a winter sports area near Genoa and Turin. The place grew rapidly: today there are around 1000 hotel beds.
Sports
A stage of the Giro d'Italia ended three times in Prato Nevoso : on May 31, 1996 the 13th stage with Pavel Tonkov as the winner and on June 1, 2000 the 18th stage with Stefano Garzelli as the winner. On May 24, 2018, the German Maximilian Schachmann won the 18th stage of the Giro d'Italia , which led here from Abbiategrasso .
On July 20, 2008, Simon Gerrans won the 15th stage of the Tour de France in Prato Nevoso .
