Mogalakwena ( English Mogalakwena Local Municipality ) is a local municipality in the district of Waterberg , the South African province of Limpopo . The seat of the municipal administration is in the city of Mokopane . Andrina Matsemela is the mayor.

The territory is in the Waterberg Mountains . In Makapan's Valley there are several paleontological and archaeological sites, so the valley region has received the status of the National Heritage awarded.

In 2011 the community had 307,682 inhabitants. 96.1% of them were black and 3% white.

The first language was 73.1% Sepedi , 9.1% Xitsonga , 6.6% IsiNdebele , 3.1% Afrikaans , 2.2% Sesotho , 1.4% English, 0.9% Setswana and 0.8% isiZulu .
